Synopsis
Time Piece tells the true story of the passage of a family heirloom as it passes through many generations, falls into disrepair, is forgotten and finally restored. It mirrors the journey of the Irish Diaspora over the last 100 years as stories are told and memories fade.
The inspiration for the film was a tale told by elderly relations that allowed the sharing of events and lives of times long past. The story was shared before it was forgotten, and was written and produced during transitional times for the extended family.

I am a recent newcomer to poetry/film, having enjoyed a 35 year career as a senior lecturer in engineering and sustainability in Cork City. I enjoy exploring a range of visual and spoken media including, Super 8, slow camera photography, along with digital image, video, and audio. As an engineer I enjoy the process of creation, and have found poetry film provides great scope for storytelling and interpreting a moment in time and space. I have attended a number workshops with Colm Scully and Helen Dewbrey.
