Petar Gudelj - poet

Synopsis

A poem may be recited in as many ways as there are human beings, emotionally and stylistically different. Considering individual differences, is there a perfect way of verbally expressing a certain poem’s essence, the one that surpasses even the reciting capabilities of the poet/creator himself?

A group of older film amateurs enthusiastically accept to recite a poem by one of the greatest Croatian poets, Petar Gudelj, to present the diversity of their experience of the poetry.

Goran Milicevic

I am an amateur filmmaker and poetry lover, retired physician, cardiologist. I've been writing poetry my whole life, but after retirement I began experimenting with film expression. My first film, a fiction-experimental hybrid is still in post-production (it’s nearing completion), but, after the death of my friend, poet Peter Gudelj, I made a film about his poetry, whose strength impressed me greatly. This short film is a part of that larger project, focused on one poem, and the possibilities of its presentation.
