The Atheists Bible by Lily Penzer is a poetry film that explores the journey of a human life devoid of any religious affiliations. It calls to our shared humanity, examining themes that everyone can relate to. It is a personal project of hope, that one day people will stop finding reasons to fight over our differences, and see the beauty we all share.
Process I went into the process with a very specific idea of what I wanted each shot to look like, however due to complications, some actors and props were not available on the day of the shoot. This meant we had to improvise, but I am grateful for these mishaps, as I believe some of the most beautiful shots came from the spontaneity of the moment.
Lily Penzer, a student at Bath Spa University studying Creative Writing and Drama. I enjoy writing about religion, nature and feminist issues. I have a history in both poetry and acting, but only recently discovered Poetry Film. The Atheist Bible is my first Poetry Film and I have already fallen in love with the form. It has opened up new opportunities to explore my creativity, and I hope to expand my knowledge and portfolio in the future.
