Tanja Leonhardt: This video poem centres on a woollen dress that becomes a link between a mother and life itself – the inexorable flow to which she must surrender at the moment of conception. There is no longer any place to stay or any certainty. Only the dress, made of this archaic material, serves as her protection and cocoon.
The author herself is that mother. She is also a visual and performance artist. In her nature performances, she surrenders herself to the situations and the inspiration they hold. This was also the case by this small forest stream in the fall, which flows here under a small concrete bridge. The water was already very cold, and the video was shot on a single, sunny autumn day.
Bio Tanja Leonhardt was born in 1966 and studied German language and literature and fine arts at the University of Mainz, pursuing further studies in psychology and philosophy. Today, Tanja works in the fields of land art, performance art, and artist books. For the land art project “Silk Languages in Nature,” Tanja traveled throughout Europe for ten years. Poems have been published in anthologies and magazines.
